Moscatel de Alejandría and Malvasía from the La Mata Natural Park on Spain's Mediterranean coast. The Moscatel is fermented on the skins (like a red wine), which gives the wine its beautiful color, floral aromas, and firm texture. Then, about a third of the Malvasía, which is directly pressed, is added. Golden yellow, citrus, apricot, and orange peel. Extremely drinkable. Produced by Vinessens (Casa Balaguer-Vinessens), a respected garage winery in Villena, Alicante, founded in 2008 by winemakers Andrés Carull and Marta Ribera. Hand-harvested from certified organic grapes, the wine is vinified in stainless steel with two weeks of skin contact, then aged on the lees before being bottled unfiltered and unfined.
